We seek two PhD students in satellite meteorology.
Position 1 deals with developing radiative transfer algorithms for cloud scattering in the millimeter and sub-millimeter spectral region:

Position 2 deals with the analysis of the long data record from operational satellite microwave humidity sensors:

Our group has a friendly atmosphere and a strong focus on research. We value diversity and welcome applications from anybody with a strong background for the positions. The application deadline currently is June 27, but likely will be extended to July 4.
You are welcome to contact me with questions, but please send the applications themselves to the recipients given under the links above.

Postdoctoral Position in Climate Dynamics.
The Department of Earth System Science at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks a postdoctoral research associate to work on climate variability on different time scales (ranging from multidecadal to daily). The project is focused on forcing and dynamical feedback between the wintertime atmospheric circulation and other components of the climate system such as sea ice, the ocean and land surface, as well as the stratospheric circulation. We use observations, including reanalysis data, and a hierarchy of models, both statistical and dynamical, including Global Climate Models (GCMs). Collaborations are encouraged with other groups in the strong climate focus at UCI.
Scientists with an excellent background in large-scale atmospheric dynamics and possessing strong climate modeling (GCM), computational and statistical skills are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have modeling experience and a strong programming background (in Matlab for example). A PhD in atmospheric or related sciences is required. The initial appointment is for one year. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Please send a CV with the names of three references to
