The Centre for Atmospheric Science (CAS) at the University of Manchester, UK, has a CASE PhD project with Rolls Royce in the area of volatile particle emissions from aircraft engines. CAS has been involved with developing sampling strategies and standards for non-volatile material which will become part of the new ICAO regulation on aircraft emissions. It is expected that the regulators will begin to look at the volatile fraction, and this project will look at the formation, sampling and environmental impacts of the volatile emissions. The work is supported by Rolls Royce and there will be opportunities to work at their nation and international test facilities. For full details, please see:
https://www.findaphd.com/search/ProjectDetails.aspx?PJID=79387
Funding Criteria:
The studentship is funded by the NERC EAO DTP and is available to UK nationals and other EU nationals that have resided in the UK for three years prior to commencing the studentship. For full terms and conditions, see:
https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/studentships-earth-atmosphere-ocean/how-to-apply/
Overseas students may be able to join the programme, but will need to have arranged funding from other sources. For exceptional overseas candidates, funding can be sought from the highly competitive Presidents Doctoral Scholar Award, and the Faculty Scholarship Scheme:
