UHM Department of Atmospheric Sciences Position Announcement
The University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level (appointment at the Associate Professor level may be considered in cases where the applicant has a proven record of outstanding research and teaching), to begin approximately on 1 August 2017.
The Department seeks candidates with demonstrated research expertise preferably with tropical emphasis in areas of atmospheric chemistry, tropical cyclones, boundary layer, or tropical meteorology in general. Candidates with outstanding track records in other areas are also encouraged to apply. In addition, candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses preferably in one or more of the areas of atmospheric chemistry, tropical cyclones, radar meteorology, synoptic, tropical meteorology, and boundary layer meteorology.
A Ph.D. earned no later than 1 May 2017 in the area of atmospheric sciences or a closely related field is required, as are excellent communication skills; a demonstrated capability for creative, high quality research; and evidence of effectively teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
