MOLTEK has been serving the space and aerospace industries since 1995, providing international consultancy services for a wide variety of clients from private and public corporations to national and international authorities and agencies.
We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a
Instrument Data Processing Engineer
You will be based initially for 3 years at our client?s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities.
Your Tasks Include:
The tasks of the Consultant will typically include:
? Supporting routine operations involving the MSG and MTP instrument data processing systems, including long-term evaluation of the performance of the instrument data processing systems;
? Investigation of anomalies relating to the performance of the instrument data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 products;
? Supporting the further development of the MSG instrument data processing system, including the specification and validation of system updates;
? Supporting the operations preparations for future MSG spacecraft;
? Supporting Meteosat Third Generation development activities w.r.t. to image navigation, rectification and on board calibration;
? Attendance at technical meetings;
? Participation in formal reviews.
Your Profile:
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have:
? Extensive theoretical knowledge of remote sensing data processing, including Image Navigation and Registration (INR), radiometric correction and calibration algorithms;
? A minimum of 3 years? experience in the processing and analysis of data from imaging and/or sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft;
? A minimum of 3 years? experience in specifying and prototyping remote sensing data processing algorithms;
? Significant experience of validating of remote sensing products and complex remote sensing data processing systems.
In addition, the Consultant shall have practical, demonstrable experience in/with:
? Algorithm software development in a Unix environment using C++/C, and ideally also IDL;
? Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification.
Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with or knowledge of some of the following:
? Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft;
? Spacecraft and/or ground segment operations;
? Attitude and orbit determination techniques for geostationary spacecraft.
The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be an advantage, together with good communication skills.
